Draw it so the AI can read it
- Use a dark pen or marker for walls and draw walls as thick double lines or solid bars.
- Leave a clear gap for each door, and add a quarter-circle swing if you can — that's how architects show doors and models recognise it.
- Mark windows as thin double lines within the wall.
- Keep notes and measurements outside the outline, or on a separate sheet.
Photograph it properly
- Shoot from directly above, with the paper filling the frame and edges parallel to the photo.
- Use even daylight; avoid the shadow of your phone falling on the sketch.
- Crop out the table and anything that isn't the plan.
What to expect from a sketch
Sketches are looser than CAD drawings, so the model has to guess more. Proportions follow your drawing, so if a room is drawn twice as long as it really is, the render will be too. Treat the result as a quick visual for discussion, not a measured design. The 'Empty / white model' style is a good first pass to check the layout before adding furniture styles.
FAQ
Does it work with graph paper?
Yes. Light grid lines are usually ignored; very dark grids can confuse the model, so use a darker pen for walls.
Can I add furniture to my sketch?
You can, but it's not necessary — the chosen style furnishes rooms automatically.
Will the render be to scale?
It follows the proportions you drew, but it is not a measured drawing.
